Spartanburg County is located in the northern part of South Carolina, where U.S. Interstates 85 & 26 intersect.

The county is home to thirty-two (32) Blue Lodges, with a combined membership of over 3900.

Masonic History for June 2009

Brother Marion Michael Morrison passed away on June 11, 1979, at the age of 72.  Brother Morrison was a Master Mason, and a member of DeMolay, Scottish Rite, and York Rite appendant bodies.  You may have known him by his stage name....John Wayne, aka "The Duke".

Organized Freemasonry became established on 24 June 1717 when four London lodges came together at the Goose and Gridiron Ale House, St Paul’s Churchyard, and formed themselves into a Grand Lodge (The Grand Lodge of England)

June 20, 1881, Albert G. Mackey, famous Masonic author and Past Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free Masons of South Carolina, died.

Five Grand Lodges were formed in this month - Rhode Island (1791), Delaware (1806), Maine (1820), Alabama (1821), and North Dakota (1889).
